Muttaiah Muralidaran holds the record for most wickets taken in a Test career. He played in 133 matches and 230 innings, bowled 44039 balls, and took 800 wickets in his cricket career. 

SK Warne and JM Anderson are the second and third highest wicket takers, with 708 and 657 runs, respectively.

Muralidharan Early life:

Muttiah Muralitharan was born on 17 April 1972 in a Tamil Hindu family in Kandy, Srilanka. His parents are Sinnasamy Muttaih and Lakshmi. 

He completed his studies at St.Anthony’s College, Kandy.

He started playing cricket as a medium-pace bowler with the advice of his School coach, Sunil Fernando, 

At the age of 14, he took up off-spin. 

He played as the all-rounder and middle-order batsman during his school days.

When he was in St.Anthony’s college, he participated in cricket, took over one hundred wickets, and achieved the title “Bata Schoolboy Cricketer of the year.”

After schooling, he joined Tamil union Cricket and Athletic Club and was selected for the England cricket tour in 1991

He took over 234 wickets at 14.51 runs in 46 matches which is the ultimate record.

He was the First Wrist-spinning off-Spinner in cricket history.

SK Warne holds the record for the second most wickets in a Test career. He played in 145 matches and 273 innings, bowled 40705 balls, and took 708 wickets in his cricket career.
