In One Day International (ODI) cricket, where there’s a limited number of overs for batting, we’ve witnessed some incredible partnerships.
Since 1999, there have been five partnerships that exceeded the 300-run mark, with three of them occurring in 2015, and two even surpassing 350 runs.

1. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels – 372 vs Zimbabwe, 2015
During a 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup match against Zimbabwe in Canberra, West Indies found themselves in a challenging situation early on when opener Dwayne Smith was dismissed for zero in just the second ball.
This brought together Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels with the score at 0/1.
Despite the initial setback, West Indies batted for the entire 50 overs. Chris Gayle played a spectacular innings, scoring 215 runs off just 147 balls, which included an impressive 16 sixes.
He was dismissed on the last ball of the innings, just missing the chance to set a record for the most sixes by a single player in a match. On the other hand, Marlon Samuels played a steadier innings, scoring an unbeaten 133 runs in 156 balls.
Together, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels created history by forming the highest partnership in ODI cricket at that time, amassing an incredible 372 runs.
This exceptional performance powered West Indies to a massive total of 372/2. In the end, the Windies won the match by 89 runs (using the D/L method).
2. John Campbell and Shai Hope – 365 vs Ireland, 2019
The second-highest partnership in ODI cricket belongs to the West Indies, and this record was achieved during a match against Ireland in Dublin as part of a tri-nation series in 2019.
In this game, West Indies batted first, with John Campbell and Shai Hope opening the innings.
It wasn’t until the 48th over that Ireland managed to take their first wicket, but by that time, West Indies had already amassed a substantial total of 365 runs.
John Campbell played a fantastic innings, scoring 179 runs, which included 15 boundaries and six sixes, all in 137 balls.
On the other hand, Shai Hope contributed significantly with 170 runs, smashing 22 boundaries and two maximums in 152 balls.
Their partnership propelled West Indies to a total of 381/3, and they later bowled out Ireland for 185 runs.
3. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid – 331 vs New Zealand, 1999
India’s highest partnership in ODI cricket was established by Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid during New Zealand’s tour of India in 1999.
In the second ODI, which followed New Zealand taking a 1-0 lead, India was determined to make a comeback, playing in Hyderabad.
They batted first, but Sourav Ganguly got out early in the second over. This brought Rahul Dravid to the crease alongside captain Sachin Tendulkar.
Remarkably, Tendulkar and Dravid batted together until the 48th over, building an extraordinary partnership of 331 runs.
Rahul Dravid scored 153 runs from 153 balls, achieving his highest ODI score. Sachin Tendulkar remained not out at the end with 186 runs, including 20 boundaries and three sixes.

4. Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid – 318 vs Sri Lanka, 1999
The first-ever 300-run highest partnership in ODI cricket occurred in 1999, featuring Indian batsmen Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. They teamed up to create a remarkable partnership of 318 runs for the second wicket during an ICC World Cup match against Sri Lanka at Taunton.
5. Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman – 304 vs Zimbabwe, 2018
In the history of ODI cricket, there have been just four occasions when partnerships crossed the 300-run mark.
One of the latest examples is from Pakistan, where the opening duo of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq combined to score one of the highest partnership in ODI of 304 runs against Zimbabwe during a bilateral ODI series in Bulawayo in 2018.
6. Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das – 292 vs Zimbabwe,2020
